Meet the Founders

Community Resource Center (CRC) is excited to announce the newest addition to our programming with the adoption of the Colorado Nonprofit Social Enterprise Exchange (The Exchange).

Join Community Resource Center as we host the Summer Networking Event and celebrate the kickoff of our newly adopted program. This event is a chance for interested applicants, program graduates, and funders, to meet with one another and learn from the social enterprise community in Colorado. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

The Exchange is where innovators, creatives, social entrepreneurs and visionaries come to learn about, share, enhance, develop, finance, and launch sustainable revenue projects and businesses for their nonprofit organizations.

Founded in 2013, by Caryn Capriccioso and Rick Zwetsch of interSector Partners, L3C, and Julie Voyles of JVoyles Nonprofit Consulting, The Exchange has worked to create a resourced ecosystem of social enterprise nonprofits, venture philanthropists, and foundations to support Colorado communities. The Exchange will enhance CRC’s already diverse portfolio of programs that build the capacity of individuals, organizations and networks affecting social good.

The Exchange supports nonprofits in building more sustainable, unrestricted sources of funding and supporting economic opportunity in low-income communities through the creation of businesses that train and employ clients. The Exchange’s Social Enterprise Cohort has graduated 21 organizations that have successfully launched 12 social enterprises, with another 4 in development. Participating organizations have raised over $1.8 million in startup and initial capital, and created over 40 jobs in the community.

In 2016, the Exchange began a process to identify an organizational home with aligned values and sustainable infrastructure, and explored several potential options.  The CRC Board and staff have undergone a careful evaluation of The Exchange and its fit with CRC’s mission. We believe that CRC and The Exchange share:

  • Aligned values in nonprofit sustainability & economic development
  • A reputation for quality and strong brands
  • Financial stability and adequate resources
  • Shared respect for our work and accomplishments to date
  • Expertise in peer-learning and investment in cohort-based learning
  • A continued commitment to social enterprise ventures & nonprofits capacity-building

The Exchange founders are working closely with the Board and Leadership of CRC to transition the program. Their expertise, experience and support will continue to inform, influence and support the delivery of the program.

CRC is pleased to partner with experts in the field and experienced social enterprise professionals to bring this resource to nonprofits and communities across the state.  We envision a thriving, resourced social enterprise sector in Colorado complementing and enhancing the nonprofit, for-profit and government sectors’ work to create a healthy, fair and just society.
