Rick Zwetsch is both an innovator and a realist. In his three decades of marketing, planning, business development and entrepreneurial experience, Rick has learned how to bridge the gap between the cutting edge and practical. He knows the challenges of running a socially- minded and innovative business firsthand.
Rick’s early career ranged from managing the first Florida branch office of a national surety company in the early 90s, to 1994 when he began directing strategic marketing and business development for a Colorado-based Web company responsible for launching the first generation Web sites and online marketing for Earthlink Network, Schwinn Cycling, KBCO Radio (Boulder) and national diamond retailer The Shane Co.
In 1997, Rick cofounded the interactive division of Integer Group, Colorado’s largest advertising agency. Serving as Internet Media Supervisor, he led interactive media, branding and communication projects for US West, Coors Brewing Co., BollÈ, ServiceMaster, Craig Rehabilitation Hospital, HealthGrades.com and MortgageRateWatch.com. He went on to form boutique consulting businesses specializing in marketing and financial planning before partnering with Caryn Capriccioso in 2009 to form interSector.
As cofounder and principal partner at interSector Partners, L3C, Rick has become a strong national voice in the education and promotion of alternative and business structures as a tool for social enterprise and social change. He regularly presents at local, statewide and national conferences such as The Social Enterprise Alliance Summit, Social Capital Markets Conference, Social Venture Capital/Social Enterprise Gathering, Columbia University, the Colorado Nonprofit Association Fall Conference and numerous local events.
Rick offers a wealth of consulting expertise to interSector’s nonprofit clients that are seeking to become more “business-minded” including specializing in consulting on marketing and business development, strategic partner development and implementation, competitive analysis, product marketing and e-commerce, public relations, customer development and loyalty, and corporate social responsibility, just to name a few. He is also interSector’s lead consultant on for-profit client corporate social responsibility work.
Rick holds a B.A. in management from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. He serves on the Rocky Mountain MicroFinance (RMMFI) Advisory Board, the new product advisory board for SurveyGizmo and has provided hundreds of hours of pro-bono consulting services to entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders seeking to understand the business structures available to them. Away from the office, Rick is an avid cyclist and fundraiser in the fight against multiple sclerosis. In 22 years as a BikeMS participant (formerly the MS 150), a 150-mile weekend cycling event, he has raised more than $40,000 and ridden 4,000-plus miles for this cause alone. Rick served as chair of the 2012 fundraising committee for Team Left Hand helping the team raise a record $185,517, a 60% increase from 2011.
