Ms. April-Dawn Knudsen is passionate about helping organizations, leaders, and communities navigate complexity with clarity and purpose. Grounded in the belief that healthy organizations are essential to healthy communities, her work centers on aligning people, systems, culture, and mission in ways that create meaningful and sustainable impact. Throughout her career, April-Dawn has worked alongside nonprofit organizations, rural communities, coalitions, leadership teams, and public-serving organizations navigating growth, transition, operational complexity, and organizational change. She is known for her ability to bring diverse voices together, foster authentic collaboration, and help organizations move from challenge to possibility with practical vision and relational leadership.

Prior to joining Community Resource Center (CRC), April-Dawn founded Knudsen Coaching & Consulting LLC (KC&C), using a collaborative model to partner with local experts, nonprofit leaders and organizations across Colorado through strategic planning, executive coaching, facilitation, organizational development, governance support, systems alignment and change management.

Since joining CRC, April-Dawn has led significant organizational transformation efforts focused on operational alignment, financial sustainability, systems modernization, organizational culture, and long-term strategic planning. April-Dawn holds a Master of Science in Community Development. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Charities Advisory Committee and represents Park County on El Pomar Foundation’s Central Peaks Regional Council.

Alex Mchenry (she/her/hers)

Alex joined Community Resource Center (CRC) in 2020, bringing over twelve years of experience in education, leadership, and community engagement. As a leader, Alex stives to create teams that are transparent, community-driven and collaborative. A natural and authentic relationship builder, Alex has spent her career in the nonprofit sector connecting people and galvanizing groups to work together for community growth. As the Director of Programs, Alex provides strategic oversight to CRC’s core program areas including Grant Services, Rural Action Network, and Civic Engagement and Advocacy. Born and raised in Denver, Alex’s passion for community engagement has also been shaped by her time living in Kenya and Malaysia. Alex has a masters’ degree in Conservation Leadership, is a graduate of the Family Leadership Training Institute (FLTI) and is passionate about working at a systems level to tackle complex social issues. In her free time Alex enjoys all outdoor activities and spending time with her family.
Marcy Mitchell
Marcy MitchellManager of Programs & Communications
Marcy has lived in Southwest Colorado for over 20 years and has assisted numerous small businesses and nonprofit organizations with marketing, web development, and administration. With her experience as a former Executive Director, grant writer, small business development advisor, and business owner, Marcy brings an array of experiences to help nonprofits impact their communities. She has served on several nonprofit boards and community organizations including the Community Foundation Serving SW Colorado, Early Childhood Council of Archuleta County and the CRC steering committee for Southwest Rural Philanthropy Days. Marcy joined CRC as Colorado Grants Guide Manager in 2024 and is excited to help nonprofits expand their grant funding and resources. Marcy and her husband have three grown children and one grandchild. In her free time, she loves hiking, skiing, climbing Colorado’s 14ers, and traveling.
Jennifer Wells

Jennifer is the Co-Founder of Next Level Regen, a small health and wellness business in Grand Junction since 2018, and one of the Co-Founders of Bravestone Project, a Nonprofit that assists survivors of human trafficking and sexual traumas in finding hope, healing, and restoration. She moved to Grand Junction 12 years ago from North Carolina and loves Colorado! She enjoys hiking, planting and growing flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Monica DeWitt (she/her/hers)

Monica brings over a decade of experience managing projects in the nonprofit and public education sectors. As Civic Engagement Program Manager, she believes civic engagement across Colorado has never been more important. She prioritizes data-driven decision making and cultivating meaningful partnerships to meet collective goals. She is returning to CRC after working on the Colorado Healthcare Corps pilot project where she recruited and coached AmeriCorps members to build capacity in healthcare.

Monica lives in Lafayette and enjoys reading and yoga. She is currently learning how to make sourdough bread and garden. She spends sunny weekends with her partner, daughter and dog hiking and camping in the mountains.

Alexandra Cruz (she/her/ella)
Alexandra Cruz (she/her/ella)Program Coordinator
Alexandra (she/her/ella) started at CRC as a Lead Community Outreach Organizer for the Civic Engagement team, and later switched roles to Civic Engagement Assistant Program Manager and the Program Coordinator. She graduated from MSU Denver with a major in business administration and minor in Italian and has been involved with Nonprofit organizations since she was in high school. Due to this, she was able to experience the positive impact Nonprofits had in her family, future, and community. In 2009, she migrated with her family to the US from Guadalajara, Jalisco, and feels lucky she ended up in beautiful Colorado.

Alexandra enjoys sharing resources with the community and talking to community members. She’s excited to continue to work at CRC and its partner organizations. In her free time, she enjoys spending time being active, either taking a gym class (dance or yoga) or taking a walk with her husband and their dog Luna. She also loves hot springs, watching shows and movies, and traveling.

Hannah Branit (she/her/hers) grew up splitting time between Chicago, IL and Shanghai, China. She graduated from the University of Denver with a BA in Psychology. Hannah has been working as a special education teacher in Denver Public Schools for the last 5 years, which has driven her pursuit of a graduate degree from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. She works to support communities and individuals through a blend of relationship building and systems-level analysis. In her personal life, Hannah enjoys being outside, ice skating, and spending time with her friends and partner.

Christina brings over 20 years of experience in graphic design and marketing, working with brands and organizations across a wide range of industries. She is passionate about helping clients refine their vision, find their voice, and build cohesive, effective outreach strategies. She prioritizes thoughtful design, strategic storytelling, and strong client relationships to create work that is both meaningful and impactful.

She is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at the University of Denver, where she is shifting her focus toward community engagement, systemic change, and more effective advocacy, particularly within the healthcare space. Christina lives in Centennial with her family. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and playing indoor soccer.

CRC believes in the power of volunteers to greatly impact the work and reach of the nonprofit sector. Our interns and volunteers build the capacity of individuals, organizations and networks across the state. CRC’s volunteers are community leaders, local government officials, statewide grant makers, young professionals, nonprofit executives, students and mentors all with a vested interest in building the capacity and lifting up the work of Colorado’s diverse communities.

CRC is seeking Grants Research Volunteers. The Grants Research Volunteer will play an important role ensuring that the Colorado Grants Guide, Colorado’s leading online tool for nonprofit funding research, is accurate and up to date. By ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the Colorado Grants Guide, the research and database management volunteer directly supports thousands of nonprofits across Colorado in identifying vital funding opportunities. Your efforts help Colorado’s nonprofit sector access the resources they need to serve communities more effectively making your contributions an essential part of building a stronger Colorado.

NOTE: This is an unpaid volunteer position. CRC offers personal and professional development opportunities, and other general incentives. We are only accepting applications from individuals who reside in the United States at this time.

Major Responsibilities
  • Work independently within a team to update the current Colorado Grants Guide database of funder and grant profiles, using a variety of online resources to ensure profile accuracy
  • Research, identify, and develop funder and grant profiles of foundations, corporations, and government agencies not currently listed in the Colorado Grants Guide
  • Track hours and work contributed; check-in with volunteer coordinator(s)
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on the volunteer’s skill set and specific interests
Requirements
  • General computer and online research proficiency
  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills
  • Minimum of one year of data entry experience
  • Access to a computer and Internet
  • Highly organized and Detail oriented
  • Ability to effectively manage independent work and the time required to complete tasks
