Interested in healthcare and serving your community?

Our healthcare industry is experiencing a historic shortage of skilled workers to provide life-saving care, and AmeriCorps was made for times like these! The Colorado Healthcare Corps, designed and led by CRC, will allow members to serve in healthcare facilities such as community health clinics, long term care facilities, development disability day and residential programs — some even provide training and professional certifications. Our members support their communities during a critical time while receiving career coaching, housing & childcare support and more!

Our President and CEO Maria Fabula was interviewed by KVNF Mountain Grown Community Radio about this innovative program. Listen in at the 4:45 mark to hear what she had to say!

The deadline for applications has passed and we are no longer accepting members. If you are interested in future programs similar to the Colorado Healthcare Corps, please fill out an interest form and we will connect with you as new opportunities arise.

Member Spotlight

Makenna is a CHC member at Every Child Pediatrics, where she assists with taking vitals, giving vaccines, and running laboratory tests such as COVID and flu tests.

“I love to meet all the families and kind of watch all the kids grow up in the short time I’ve been here. The newborns I’ve seen are now a few months old, so I think that’s really cool to see. I get to know the families that come in a lot,” she said.

Makenna wants to attend Physician Assistant school and said her service experience cemented her passion for working with children in a healthcare setting.

“I’ve learned so much here,” she said. “I’ve worked in healthcare before, but I was a CNA in a nursing home, so it was totally different from being a medical assistant. I’ve had to learn so much and have had the opportunity to be paired with all the medical assistants here.”

To anyone thinking about joining the Colorado Healthcare Corps, Makenna said, “Definitely do it. It’s been a lot of fun and you get to learn so much and meet so many cool people.”
