AmeriCorps VISTA COVID-19 Response Efforts
Nonprofits and community groups around the state are coming together to find creative solutions to community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. CRC places VISTA members around the state annually with participating nonprofits, community groups, and local governments. They are supporting the response efforts taking place at their hosting organizations in a variety of ways including: planning new recovery and support programming; doing research and updating systems; finding emergency funding; outreach to communities regarding COVID-19 updates; and more.
We are so proud of our members for their adaptability in this time and their continued commitment to getting things done for our communities.
Rural AmeriCorps VISTA Program
Providing affordable resources and access to national service members for nonprofits in Colorado’s rural communities
More than 5,100 nonprofit organizations operate within rural Colorado. These organizations play an important role in improving the quality of life in Colorado’s communities and provide services that alleviate poverty, addressing everything from transitional housing to early childhood education to strengthening local food systems. In order to build the capacity of rural nonprofits to more effectively address key factors that influence poverty in our state’s communities and further mission impact, CRC provides a limited number of AmeriCorps VISTA members to our rural nonprofit partners across the state.
Our AmeriCorps VISTA program provides national service members who deliver indirect services to build the organizational, administrative and financial capacity of nonprofit organizations.
Grow Organizational Capacity: Nonprofits and community groups in rural Colorado grow in organizational capacity and gain additional resources to accomplish their missions.
Provide Professional Development: VISTA members have a positive experience during which they increase in ability and gain valuable insight for future studies and employment.
Alleviate Poverty: Persistent poverty in rural Colorado is reduced.
