Our Inclusivity Statement
Community Resource Center believes that working towards diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all that we do is more than just a nonprofit best practice – it is an ethical imperative. It is at the core of our values and is instrumental in advancing our mission. We are committed to the ongoing process of fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment within Community Resource Center and throughout our partnerships with individuals, organizations, and networks across Colorado.
At CRC, we believe in the power of the nonprofit sector to create change, and that change is established from within. It has been with this in mind that we began, and have continued, our journey to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for our staff, AmeriCorps VISTA members, board members, and every nonprofit professional we collaborate with across Colorado.
Our Journey:
In 2017, we formed an internal inclusivity committee to hold ourselves accountable and continue to ensure this work is ever present in our programs, operations, and interactions with our partners and colleagues. Through this initiative, our team completed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Assessment. We have actively implemented the assessment’s recommendations and used the findings to further our progress in the right direction. After thoughtful reflection and discussion with staff and board, we created and adopted our Inclusivity Statement.
The inclusivity committee continues the work to address and implement best Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices and provide additional opportunities to hear from our team and partners on areas for improvement. We approach our work with an equity lens and strive to ensure people from all backgrounds feel welcomed, valued, and heard. We understand this work is never complete, and commit to continuing to ask hard questions, take risks, stretch outside our comfort zone, and push back against systems of injustice.
