Find Your Region and Events

Interested in getting involved in your region? Consider serving on a regional Leadership Committee! Our regional leadership committees are a key outcome of the Rural Philanthropy Days program, building networks, partnerships and increased access to education and opportunities across rural Colorado. Each of the eight Leadership Committees build unique opportunities within their region in order to best meet the needs of their communities during the years between RPD conferences.

Benefits of Leadership Committee participation:

  • Expand Your Professional Network
  • Enhance and Inform Regional Opportunities

Good management involves knowing about governance and policies, delegating well, communicating effectively, and organizing one’s own time well.  Leadership is something much more personal, and reflects one’s ability to connect, communicate, and inspire others. While some may seem to be born leaders, most meaningful leadership skills are learned and can be refined with practice and intention. This full day session will benefit both individuals in formal management roles and those looking to advance their opportunity for leadership.

This session will explore the differences between management and leadership and provide participants with the opportunity to reflect on the type of leader they are and want to be. Participants will engage in several activities to practice leadership skills related to effective communication, building trust, and managing their own response to challenging situations. Participants will also create a framework to identify ways to exercise leadership within and without formal management roles. Participants will examine organizational practices that support inclusive leadership development.

This training event is sponsored by the San Juan Rural Philanthropy Days (SJRPD) Interim Committee, a coalition of regional nonprofit leaders who have joined together to bring nonprofit education opportunities to the region.
