Community Resource Center - Outreach and Impact Associate VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA – Outreach & Impact Associate

Community Resource Center (CRC), headquartered in Denver, Colorado is a statewide nonprofit management support organization providing low-cost, high-quality programs, resources and networking opportunities to hundreds of nonprofits throughout the state to strengthen Colorado communities.

The Outreach & Impact Associate VISTA will support CRC’s robust statewide programming through marketing and development activities, and program planning to deepen CRC’s
program impact. The Associate will increase the sustainability and reach of CRC’s education, resource, and leadership development programs through engagement of key stakeholders, supporting brand awareness, and implementation of our new strategic planning goals.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop and test strategies to build brand awareness across Colorado through outreach to stakeholders

  • Support planning and development of new education, resource and leadership programs and strengthen current offerings

Community Resource Center - Statewide Social Media Associate VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA – Statewide Social Media Associate VISTA

Community Resource Center (CRC), headquartered in Denver, Colorado is a statewide nonprofit management support organization providing low-cost, high-quality programs, resources and networking opportunities to hundreds of nonprofits throughout the state to strengthen Colorado communities.

The Statewide Social Media Associate VISTA will support CRC in increasing impact and awareness among statewide partners through the use of social media. The VISTA will manage the quality, performance and optimization of content and advertising on our social media platforms and will be responsible for producing video and still imagery, developing consistent messaging, creating narrative blog posts and collecting content from CRC’s statewide partners.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive social media plan to boost CRC’s utilization of social media platforms and increase reach to partners across the state.
  • Research innovative ways to engage audiences through content in the digital space, including Facebook Live, contests, video content, etc.
  • Track, analyze and report on effectiveness of social media posts and communication campaigns to ensure goals are met and initiatives are clearly linked to desired outcomes
  • Explore strategies to target rural communities through posts – balance organic content and paid strategies to amplify reach of our specific audiences
  • Establish organization-wide best practices and offer recommendations for augmenting social media campaigns and initiatives
  • Create original written and visual content for CRC’s social media channels (videos, photography, articles, blog posts, etc.) that is aligned with mission messaging and brand visual identity
  • Strongly utilize and produce video content to share the work that CRC is doing across the state
  • Collaborate with Rural Programs team and other CRC staff members to collect content from statewide travels
  • Highlight activities and upcoming opportunities relevant to rural Colorado nonprofits/ communities
  • Support the Rural Philanthropy Days program and the Rural Programs team as a whole, to increase knowledge, awareness and consistent branding of CRC’s statewide presence and management of RPD.
  • Serve as a member of both active RPD Planning Committees, specifically serving on the Marketing Sub-committee; promote utilization of social media to market regional RPD events and assist committees in creating innovative and eye-catching content to promote participation at RPD
  • Support the development of social media calendars and strategies for each of the 8 regional Facebook pages, boost presence on both active regional pages and interim regional pages
  • Support the Rural Programs team in coordinating rural opportunities, convening’s and listening tours, promoting heavily on social media and other marketing platforms; assist in creation of statewide reports

La Plata County Collaborative Management Program - Program Development Assistant VISTA

Program Development Assistant VISTA with La Plata County Collaborative Management Program and La Plata Youth Services

The La Plata County Collaborative Management Program (CMP) is a collaborative of youth-serving agencies who work together to identify gaps in the community and then create innovative, collaborative responses to better address the needs of at-risk youth in La Plata County.

SUMMARY: Specific projects under development include Auxiliary Services for Unaccompanied Homeless Youth, Radical Possibilities Therapeutic Mentorship, and Restorative Practices for interaction with youth, schools and justice systems. Work with program staff to assist implementation of collaborative, therapeutic, and restorative, programs for youth and their families. All programs strive to keep youth in school and decrease overlap in services while identifying gaps. This position creates a link with CMP and direct service providers; especially related to data and evaluation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The VISTA Program Development Assistant works with the guidance of the CMP Coordinator to:

  • Research evidence-based and evidence-informed practices to help identify programming to address service gaps.
  • Co-Create presentations of evidence-based and evidence-informed practices to promote dialogue with collaborative members and the community-at-large.
  • Actively participate in all CMP-related meetings and create related program documentation, to include:
    • Record decisions made in meetings and assist in setting and distributing agendas
    • Create & update manuals for policy, procedure, forms and templates
    • Assist with review and edits to strategic plans
    • Design grant narratives with a team
    • Assist in completing end of year reports

The Program Development Assistant VISTA works with a team of three program staff and the CMP Coordinator to:

  • Manage outcome data for all direct service programs.
  • Assist with updates for manuals, policies, training and curriculum
  • Act as a liaison in the community and will represent CMP
  • Create and refine marketing and promotional materials
  • Track, collect and merge data from various programs for reports

HOURS: 40 hours per week
REPORTS TO: CMP Coordinator

TIME COMMITMENT: This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours/week. This position requires flexible hours, and may include occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Bright Futures, located in Telluride, CO, is dedicated to providing leadership, innovation, influence, and resources to ensure that Ouray, San Miguel, Delta and Montrose Counties have quality early childhood care, education, health, mental health and family services.  The Bright Futures team is dynamic, energetic, positive and forward thinking. The organization relies on strong partnerships across Colorado to improve access to a variety of services including family home visitation, childcare, early learning quality improvement and teacher professional development. Bright Futures is involved in newly adopted, statewide early childhood initiatives that offer the opportunity to interface with state of the art technology and systems to track early learning outcomes. The organization’s recent Family Resource Center designation offers opportunities to be involved in identifying and coordinating family support programs.

Telluride is a small mountain town located in the San Juan Mountain Range of Southwest Colorado with a rich history and a laid-back atmosphere. Telluride is known for incredible winter and summer outdoor recreation opportunities, year round festivals, and a lively arts and culture scene.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Program Development Associate VISTA will support the mission of Bright Futures through resource development, community outreach and marketing efforts.

The Crow Canyon Archaeological Center’s mission is to empower present and future generations by making the human past accessible and relevant through archaeological research, experiential education, and American Indian knowledge. To achieve our mission, the Center conducts sustained field research in the American Southwest, creates and delivers engaging and enriching educational materials and programs and collaborates with American Indians in the development and implementation of its research and educational programs. The Center is located in rural Cortez, Colorado. This region encompasses Mesa Verde National Park one of the nation’s first World Heritage sites and one of the world’s most important for understanding the human past. It is also home to two national byways considered “America’s Most Beautiful Drive,” the San Juan Skyway and Trail of the Ancients National Scenic Byway.  Crow Canyon is committed to providing a life-enhancing experience to the VISTA that would not only contribute to our local communities’ well-being but offer new challenges and career opportunities in an outstanding work environment.

The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) VISTA position will support Crow Canyon in growing the capacity and sustainability of the organization to contribute to the reduction of poverty in rural Southwestern Colorado. The CEC VISTA will coordinate and serve as the outreach nexus for communications activities, strategic plan co-development, and fundraising, and will be responsible for proposal research, information management, and organizing meetings that support co-development of a community-based three-year strategic plan. Over the course of a year, the majority of the VISTA’s time will be spent on partnership building, project planning and development, and capacity building—including fundraising.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The CEC VISTA will work closely with the Director of Sponsored Projects in order to:

  • In coordination with the Director of Sponsored Projects develop a detailed personal work plan to sequence, prioritize, and implement the year’s tasks and goals in support of the community engagement project
  • Participate in related Crow Canyon and community committees and support groups that advance the project’s goals
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with local and regional non-profits, businesses, and Federal, state and local government agencies that will lead toward co-designing, implementing, and sustaining a three-year strategic plan
  • Design data-collection protocols and maintain the collection of detailed needs- assessment data
  • Research funders; enter data into the existing funder/donor database
  • Assist with development of short- and medium-term strategic planning and funding to implement the project; develop and submit two funding proposals; document proposals submitted and funds raised in database
  • Design evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of the plan and its implementation

Colorado Grants Guide Research Volunteer

Colorado Grants Guide (CGG) Research Volunteer Position

Overview and Purpose: The CGG Research Volunteer will help develop and manage the Colorado Grants Guide® by updating the live database and researching funders who provide support to Colorado nonprofits and communities using public information like organizational websites and accessing annual reports, IRS tax documents, and other financial information. You will gain in-depth knowledge on grant research and the skills necessary to sustain a nonprofit organization.

Results: Nonprofits will have access to the most up-to-date information on funding information and grantmaker profiles, increasing their ability to effectively apply for funding.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently research and update funder profiles using a variety of online and public resources
  • Work with proprietary and confidential information
  • Communicate with the Program Coordinator to ensure profile accuracy
  • Provide insight and expertise as we launch our new platform
  • Help develop new strategies and opportunities that can benefit the subscriber’s experience
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on the volunteer’s skill set and specific interests

Qualifications:

  • General computer and online research proficiency
  • One year of data entry experience
  • Excellent communications, writing, and editing skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent analytical skills

Salesforce Volunteer

Overview & Purpose: The Salesforce Volunteer will support staff with data entry and data updating and may assist on other projects in CRC’s Salesforce CRM database as needed.

Results: CRC’s Salesforce database will contain updated information on CRC’s clients and potential clients and their involvement with CRC programming helping to streamline marketing efforts and increase program efficiencies.

Major Responsibilities/Suggested Activities:

  • Responsible for converting incoming leads from email blasts and CRC’s website to Contacts
  • Create and/or update contacts, accounts, interactions and other information based on program needs and activities
  • Special projects may include tasks such as assisting staff in creating reports, cleaning data, preparing for bulk uploads and creating custom objects based on volunteer’s abilities and organizational needs

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and proven high attention to detail
  • Computer literate and tech savvy – experience with Salesforce or similar CRM database and with Microsoft Suite (specifically Excel) is preferred
  • Data entry experience is preferred

Commitment: Weekly schedule is flexible but must be completed during regular business hours. A commitment of 5-10 hours per week for one year is requested.

Site/Location: All work will be completed at CRC’s Denver office.

Social Enterprise Exchange Business Mentor

Social Enterprise Exchange (SEE) Business Mentor

Overview & Purpose: The job of the Business Mentor is to provide support and guidance to Exchange cohort organizations to enhance their ability to create, start, maintain and grow their social enterprise. Share your expertise with our Social Enterprise Exchange cohort members and be a part of the creation of social impact business models with Colorado’s nonprofit sector.

Results: Social Enterprise Exchange cohort members will move further towards creating a successful model and social venture, to realize a source of unrestricted revenue and a business that creates jobs for clients or community members. Cohort members will have built strong trusting relationships with their business mentors, widening their network.

Major Responsibilities/Suggested Activities:

  • Guide SEE participants on social enterprise idea creation, planning and implementation.
  • Meet with SEE participants once a month to answer questions and provide guidance on homework.
  • Attend monthly sessions to assist with an engaging and successful experience for the SEE cohort

Outcomes/Goals:

  • Business mentors will be utilized and contacted every month and possibly after the completion of the program to assist with the implementation and maintenance of participants’ social enterprises.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in product or service development, organization development, marketing/communications, financial planning, accounting or funding, legal or tax, etc…

Commitment: Expect to volunteer at least 1-3 hours a month depending on cohort participants needs/questions and monthly topics.

Site/Location: Colorado Collaborative for Nonprofits for Exchange sessions or mentors can be contacted via phone or email if desired. Participants may want to meet in person with mentors and locations can vary.

VISTA Alumni Engagement Volunteer

Americorps VISTA Alumni Engagement Volunteer

Overview & Purpose: The AmeriCorps VISTA Alumni Engagement Volunteer will assist with engaging and supporting AmeriCorps members (alumni) who have completed their VISTA term throughout the state of Colorado. In addition to creating an alumni network in order to foster collaboration within the Colorado nonprofit sector, this individual will also support a new initiative focused on providing professional mentorship to AmeriCorps alum either starting their career or making a career change. Results: This position will help us stay engaged with our AmeriCorps members, provide career development opportunities, and allow us to support our current AmeriCorps members as they progress in their career. We will measure the success of this position by the total number of AmeriCorps alumni engaged in activities, the number of events planned for members to engage throughout the year, and the number of AmeriCorps alum who have successfully obtained employment beyond their term.

Major Responsibilities/Suggested Activities:

  • Develop an AmeriCorps alumni contact database, in partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA Leader
  • Research best practices related to alumni/mentorship programs
  • Assist with coordination of monthly networking events for current AmeriCorps members statewide as well as alum
  • Reach out to CRC AmeriCorps alumni to gauge interest in becoming a mentor
  • Assist with the development of program goals and activities specifically for mentorship, in partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA Leader
  • Analyze and make suggestions for potential platforms to be used for marketing purposes in the beginning of the initiative; e.g. social media, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Craft original language/key messaging for outreach and recruitment, in partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

Qualifications:

  • Previous AmeriCorps or Peace Corps experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of nonprofit marketing and outreach
  • Previous experience in alumni engagement a plus

Commitment:

  • 5-10 hours per week, some evening and weekends required
  • A commitment of four months minimum is required

Site/Location:

  • Some hours will be completed onsite at CRC’s office in Denver
  • Other activities can be completed independently on the volunteer’s own time
  • Some travel may occur for rural events, volunteer will be compensated for mileage

Rural Philanthropy Days Regional Leadership Committee

Rural Philanthropy Days (RPD) Regional Leadership Committee Volunteer

Overview & Purpose: The Leadership Committee supports a network of regional nonprofit organizations and community groups. The group’s purpose is to provide leadership, county
representation, resource development, and financial management. Planning the programming for a region requires a time commitment and is a highly rewarding process for dedicated individuals willing to work hard for the benefit of their communities.

Results: Nonprofits in rural regions of the state will have access to continued quality professional development and capacity building opportunities. Rural nonprofits will have the information, tools and opportunities to better meet their missions and run sustainable organizations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Advance regional collaboration and nonprofit excellence across rural Colorado
  • Continue momentum build during the most recent regional Rural Philanthropy Days conference
  • Cultivate leadership for Rural Philanthropy Days active conference Steering Committee
  • Be inclusive of perspectives from diverse sectors across your region.
  • Manage regional resources and work with Community Resource Center to ensure financial responsibility.
  • Help plan and execute 1 to 2 regional professional development and/or networking events within a year.

Qualifications:

  • Have a general understanding of Rural Philanthropy Days or past involvement with Rural Philanthropy Days
  • Involved and knowledgeable about regional nonprofit sector and local resources
  • Program planning or event planning experience is a plus

Commitment:

  • A commitment of 1 – 3 hours per month for one year is required. There is the opportunity to recommit after one year of service. The regional leadership committee will convene regularly during the three “interim” years between active Rural Philanthropy Days conferences.

Site/Location:

  • Regional Leadership Committees will meet once a month via conference call and will meet twice a year in-person at a decided upon centrally located venue
